About Us
The Provincial Disease Surveillance & Response Unit (PDSRU), Sindh is the central public health unit responsible for coordinating disease surveillance, outbreak detection, investigation, and response throughout the province of Sindh, Pakistan. Operating under the Health Department, Government of Sindh, PDSRU functions as the provincial hub for the Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) system.
PDSRU strengthens the province’s ability to prevent, detect, and respond to public health threats by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting surveillance data from public and private health facilities. The unit ensures timely reporting of priority communicable diseases and leads rapid outbreak responses in close coordination with district health offices, laboratories, and emergency response teams.
Aligned with the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005) and the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA), PDSRU plays a key role in early warning, risk assessment, and information sharing with national and international stakeholders. Through standardized operating procedures, capacity building, and data-driven decision-making, PDSRU works to reduce morbidity, mortality, and the impact of epidemics and pandemics across Sindh.
